Can you give me a brief history of Mindspeed?
Prior to distribution to stockholders on June 27, 2003 as an independent publicly traded company, Mindspeed was a wholly owned subsidiary of Conexant Systems, Inc. Conexant was launched as an independent entity in January 1999 after Rockwell International Corporation spun off its Rockwell Semiconductor Systems business to stockholders.
What does Mindspeed develop and sell?
Mindspeed designs, develops and sells semiconductor networking solutions for communications applications such as VoIP and broadband optical transmission in enterprise, access, metropolitan and wide area networks. The company's three key product families include high-performance analog transmission and switching solutions, multiservice access products designed to support voice and data services across wireline and wireless networks, and WAN communications solutions including T/E carrier, network processing and traffic management devices. Mindspeed's products are used in a wide variety of network infrastructure equipment including voice and media gateways, high-speed routers, switches, access multiplexers, cross-connect systems, add-drop multiplexers and digital loop carrier equipment.

Significant indirect network infrastructure OEM customers for fiscal year 2006 included McData Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Nortel Networks, Inc., Siemens A.G. and TrueLight Corporation.
Does Mindspeed manufacture its own products?
No. Mindspeed is a "fabless" company, which means that it does not own or operate foundries for wafer and die fabrications, device assembly or final test of products. Instead, it outsources the wafer fabrication, assembly and testing of its semiconductor products to independent, third-party contractors such as TSMC, Chartered, Jazz Semiconductor, Amkor, ASAT and ASE.
